Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) guarantees stable legal framework for gas transit

  • Political agreement among the Nabucco transit countries, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey signed in Ankara Germany is not transit country and therefore not party to agreement but states full political support
  • Ensures equal legal conditions for gas transit throughout the entire Nabucco pipeline system
  • Lays down transport tariff methodology and rules for network access
  • Establishes political committee comprising representatives of all signatory countries to support development of the project

Local engineering of Nabucco's pipeline route begins

Market Survey shows huge demand for Nabucco capacities

Pipeline capacities are more than 100 percent overbooked by potential shippers on a non binding basis

  • In preparation of the Open Season Process the Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH undertook an actual market survey amongst potential shippers on a non binding basis last month.
  • Nabucco capacities are more than 100 Percent overbooked by potential shippers from day one in 2013 on a long term basis.
  • Strong request for transport of natural gas from various gas sources in Central Asia and Middle Eeast.
Open Season Process will start, when the legal framework - Exemption Process and Intergovermnental Agreement - is finally established.

Nabucco updates investment expectations

Start of market sounding in preparation of open season process

The Nabucco Consortium recently undertook a CAPEX update based on an actual market survey amongst major material and service supplies.
  • The high price of crude oil and rising demand for steel cause increase of investment. Nabucco requires 2 mn tons of steel, 200,000 pipes and more than 30 compressor units.
  • Nabucco´s competitiveness is uneffected since high demand for energy will increase the profitability of energy projects.
